Bio

Pavel V. Tsvetkov is a Professor of Nuclear Engineering in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2002 and his M.S. in Theoretical and Experimental Reactor Physics from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (Technical University) in Russia in 1995.

Dr. Tsvetkov’s research spans advanced nuclear systems and fuel cycle technologies, systems engineering methods, and AI-driven design, analysis, and uncertainty quantification for nuclear design, security, and nonproliferation applications. His work also encompasses nuclear facility simulators and digital twins, cybersecurity and informatics, nuclear data, novel detection and sensor technologies, instrumentation and control, and robotics and automation platforms.

He joined Texas A&M as a Visiting Assistant Professor in 2003 and has since held a series of academic and administrative leadership roles, including Assistant Professor (2005–2011), Associate Professor (2011–2023), and Professor (2023–present). He has served as Director of the Graduate Program in Nuclear Engineering, Director of the Undergraduate Program in Nuclear Engineering, and Director of Systems Engineering for the College of Engineering. Prior to his time at Texas A&M, he worked as a Project Manager at the Central Science Engineering Institute in Moscow and as a Research Fellow in Reactor Physics at the International Reactor Institute at TU Delft in the Netherlands.
